How to Survive the Internet Tornado

So 70% of the internet usage is now bot traffic.

Along with that 70% of internet was rendered vulnerable to remote code execution.

If that wasn’t enough GoDaddy turned out not to be very secure and got 400,000 of its websites certs revoked.

Happy Friday!

So what does all this mean for you? Maybe you’re someone who finds all of this overstimulating and just needs a way to make sense of it.

My simple observation: you are in an evolving tornado and bare minimum need to be equipped with the basic standards of cyber awareness.

Traditional phishing attempts are probably going to become a thing of the past with passkeys yada yada. But you are hopefully seeing the level of zero day threats rising from AI models finding these vulnerabilities… which means things will change. Therefor there is ample opportunity for discovery in the eye of the storm.

Many opinions online are doomsdaying realities of infrastructure not being able to keep up. While we need to bolster budgets and efforts to ensure proper practices. And there are plenty opportunities to not care about this as a business looking to bolster your profits. Equally I think there’s a big opportunity I think for executives particularly, to learn a huge lesson from this space and I speak from a stance of humility.

I don’t know what it’s like to run a giant firm and have the stress of investors or a board of directors at my neck. You’ve got a lot of pressure on you! Maybe turning out good products and producing a triple bottom line gives you access to fortitude in a dire situation. You could be the company looking at GoDaddy and saying, “we are not like them because we follow standards and that makes us more money for our investors.”

Competitiveness in the tech world is backed on the constant reinvention of the asset everyone assumes they need to have an edge. But longevity is the inseparable identity of your reliability in the midst of hard times. That’s where you come in, someone who can step up and call out what needs to change and turn out reliable services for the world to use that all the bots want to use it!

And I’m willing to bet that this would also drive more profits to your company not just public moral integrity. And if I’m wrong feel free to DM me what went wrong. But you’ll have to follow me on social media to send those messages.

But until then, buy coffee for your IT team!
