#008 I Gave ChatGPT My Fantasy Football Team and Lost My Self-Control

Okay… so I’m now 4-1 in fantasy football but I’m not proud of it.
Greed may have gotten the best of me, and I ended up taking some of the ChatGPT recommendations, so we’ll have to throw this experiment out due to bias. This is what it feels like:

Rather than hide in my shame I’m deciding to come forward in my audacity and talk about what we can learn from this blunder.

1. Jacobi Brissett Went Off! (So did my fear)

I didn’t think that I was going to have that much upside by switching to Brissett but I honestly wanted to win so bad (it’s a problem) and I doubted my own decision making on Kyler. Low and behold choosing to side with ChatGPT’s previous recommendation was a good idea and got me a net +7.52 by getting my new QB1.

2. I Took the fun out of Fantasy Football

Some would argue there’s no fun to begin with… those people aren’t invited to my league.

But when I’m sitting here with my sleeper Ollie Gordon II who I’ve never heard of before this week, I’m getting giddy. It’s thrilling to be in a position that you are scheming together a plan that will put you on top of the podium, and you were the one that went through the logs, put together the mock ups, and presented the risks vs. the rewards.

Starting to sound like I’m a corporate professional yearning for a promotion?

But I robbed myself of that feeling and I gave it over to AI. In all honesty I probably saved myself some embarrassment right? What if it didn’t work out with Ollie and it was a bust? Well… I still won by 40 points, so was it really worth it to give over my decision making to the machine and take the safer option?

I was avoiding failure and lost my thrill. And if I did get embarrassed, I’m still documenting it on the internet for everyone to see so what can I do but learn anyway? Sounds to me like while it could be a good way to test your knowledge or compare different strategies, maybe it’s better to go with your gut even if you lose. At least it’s your gut.

Think I’ve got it backwards? Leave a comment below on what I might have missed or if you think I should test something else out.

Until next time!
